The Shipper's Letter of Instructions form (SLI) directs a carrier in preparing shipping documents for the shipment and provides the necessary declarations. The purpose of the SLI form is to convey specific instructions from the exporter to his agent, usually a freight forwarder. The Shipper's Letter of Instructions form lists the information needed for the freight forwarder to properly deliver the shipment.
