Explosives Hazmat Placards
The Department of Transportation expanded the number of explosive placards from 3 to 35 (the number of classification codes possible). The classification code for an explosive consists of the Division Number followed by the Compatibility Group Letter. These letters are used to specify controls for the transportation and storage of explosives and to prevent an increase in hazards that might result if certain types of explosives were stored or transported together.
Our explosive placards display both the Division Number and Compatibility Group Letter. Explosive A, B, C and Blasting Agents are being replaced with Explosive 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 conforming to the UN System. The placards, which comply with 49 CFR, are available in tagboard or removable vinyl. All are 273mm x 273mm.
