Oil-Only Replacement Blanket w/Tethers, 10' x 5' x 25'

Quickly and efficiently respond to hazardous oil spills with Labelmaster's Oil-Only X-Tex Blankets. As a last line of defense along the shore and in the surf, these can absorb up to 16 gallons of oil. The 10 x 5-ft. blankets are made of X-Tex material that have ropes and anchors attached so that they can be tethered/anchored to the sand below the water's surface. The blankets will "tumble" in the surf and remove oil from water as it passes by and through the filtering fabric. X-Tex has the unusual benefit of being able to pull out emulsified oils, which are created in the pounding surf as well as by dispersants used on the oil slicks offshore. X-Tex material is made of rolled fabric and is different than polypropylene in that it allows water to instantly filter through the material and pulls off the oil selectively as the material is hydrophilic. Polypropylene repels the water, and this can make it take longer for the oil to be readily absorbed in a surf environment where the oil is no longer a surface sheen ̶ rather it is being broken up in the surf. X-Tex is produced from recycled synthetic fibers. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, these fibers are blended and processed into a lightweight fiber mass with enormous surface area and interstitial spaces creating a high performance sorbent and filter media.
